Of all the different varieties ofdown available, there is nothing in the world that even approach the softness of Eiderdown.  It is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, and more comfortable than anything else known to man.  It is so incredibly lighweight that it is literally like sleping with your head on a soft cloud.  It is simply the best you can have.

Our Eiderdown is hand collected from the nests of the Eider Duck in Eider Duck sanctuaries.  In a special relationship that has existed for generations between the Eiders and the local farmers only 30% of the down from the nest is harvested at any one time.  The birds are not disturbed, and are actually attracted to these safe sanctuaries because of food supplied by the down collectors.  It is a truly amazing relationship between man and nature.

About The Pillowcase

We import from Europe a 100% Silk fabric that is an amazing 450 thread count.   This fabric is woven especially for Eiderdown as it is extremely light and soft.  The silk is downproof so no down will ever leak from this pillow.  

In addition to the silk outer cover, there is an additional cotton cover as an underlay. This fabric is also downproof so you are doubly protected.

Why would you have both the silk and the cotton underlay?  We find that some of our clients notice the very slight difference when their pillowcase is backed by cotton, or when that cotton has silk over it.  There is something about the way the silk interacts with the pilowcase.  Obviously, if your pillowcase is made from silk, the silk ticking on the pillow creates an even more luxurious sensation as you sleep.  It is truly another layer of luxury on your bed.

How To Care For Your Pillow

We always recommend professional laundering of your Eiderdown pillow.  Eiderdown should not be washed too often, and if you take care of it with one of our high quality pillow protectors you should rarely have to wash it.  Of course, if you drool a lot, you will need to wash it a little more often. (Hey, we all like luxury, but we're human too.  Drool is not the exception for most it's often times the rule.)
